China is good and so far successful in getting the best of others, whether it be business or relations with other Nations. It brazenly brushes aside any one who it perceives in its perverted way an attack on its government-well, you can not expect anything more from them, for they try to to suppress information on even natural calamities like Earth quakes as it thinks that the world may think the govt. responsible for even this!- Nations including the US are wary of taking action against China because of fear of losing its market.Well, two can play the game.Let companies like Google take on China, and if necessary close down operations in China as China's loss will be greater in the long term.Companies may look to other markets like India.
There was no underplaying the move by Google ( GOOG - news - people ), which like many U.S. companies has been circumspect about offending the Chinese government. The news appeared on two different Google blogs, with several members of Google's public affairs staff flagging the announcement in other venues. The main statement was signed by David Drummond, Google's top lawyer.
Drummond wrote that in mid-December Google had detected a major attack on its infrastructure originating from China. On investigation, Drummond's post said, "we have discovered that at least 20 other large companies from a wide range of businesses--including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors--have been similarly targeted." Google did not identify the companies, but said it is notifying them of the attack.
The aim of this attack, and other breaches it has uncovered, was to access e-mail accounts of Chinese human rights campaigners worldwide.
